The Best of Andrew Murray on Prayer: A Daily Devotional Journal
Published in Hardcover by Barbour & Co (August, 1997)
Author: Andrew Murray
Average review score:

Spiritual growth
Murray's devotional/journal has been exactly what I was looking for to draw even closer to the Lord. Spending just 15-30 minutes a day by reading Scripture, reading a short commentary on that Scripture, journaling what you feel the Lord saying to you through this passage, and then a closing prayer. Your quiet time with the Lord will never be the same!

Beyond Closed Doors: Growing Beyond an Abused Childhood
Published in Paperback by Morehouse Publishing (December, 1996)
Author: John Andrews
Average review score:

Letters from a hurting child to the grown man during therapy
Beyond Closed Doors tells the story of a violently sexually and emotionally abused man. However, unlike many autobiographies, that was not its aim. The book is a collection of letters written by Little John to Big John during his therapy and healing process. They tell of the hurting child inside the adult man, and the fears that the man still carries because the hurting child was not protected. As a window into the therapy process, this book is without parallel. For any child abuse victim, these letters express the pain of the child within, and the adult's struggle to let the child be heard.

The text is superbly crafted and told in verse
Set in southern Wisconsin, Andrew Oliver's novel, Beyond The Enchanted Bridge: A Visit To Scarecrow Land is the story of ten year old Martha who searches for her brother who disappears on a rocking horse when it turns into a real horse! Martha journeys into Scarecrow Land, a place where the past blends with the present, strange and memorable characters are encountered, and courage is needed to overcome obstacles. The text is superbly crafted and told in verse. Black and white photographs enhance the reading experience. Beyond The Enchanted Bridge is very highly recommended reading for middle school boys and girls and would make a highly popular addition to any school or public library collection.

Big Cats
This 80-page book is filled with amazing photographs of big cats. It provides an over-view of big cat anatomy, and goes on to explain the individual characteristics of the major big cat species, from tigers to bobcats to ocelots. I also just love the variety and beauty of the pictures.

Biology and Society: The Evolution of Man and His Technology
Published in Paperback by MacMillan Pub Co (June, 1975)
Author: Andrew McClary
Average review score:

Really Interesting.
Really interesting discussion about how biology affects technology and technology affects biology. Written in 1974, but still proposes valid arguments today. Premise is that man made Western technology has far evolved past the evoloution of our biological structures. Lots of interesting information on bushmen as an example of human biology versus modern (1974) technology. Give a bushman a driver's liscence??? Technology = Tools. Tech as tools to solve problems over time creating more problems. Want to get around faster -> cars and roads -> pollution and harm to human being's health. There is no problem free tech. Some unsupported dehumanization through technology stuff. Sounds like this guy might be a bit of a anti-tech.

Birds of the Solomons, Vanuatu & New Caledonia (Helm Field Guides)
Published in Paperback by A&C Black (December, 1999)
Authors: Chris Doughty, Nicholas Day, and Andrew Plant
Average review score:

Birds of the Solomons, Vanuatu, and New Caledonia
This is an excellent, one-of-a-kind field guide. Not since the 1940s has any book on this area of the Pacific appeared, let alone such a beautiful, usable field guide. The illustrations, maps and text are both accurate and up-to-date. The authors, highly reputable ornithologists of international stature, are to be congratulated on their efforts in this little-known area of the Pacific, historically and currently beset with political strife.
